Until the 1940's, families of the dead would keep their deceased love ones in their homes until the time came for burial. A family member would stay with the body at all times until it was buried to keep animals from disturbing it. This was called, "the wake." This could go on for days while family members traveled from all around the country to pay their respects.
Over 65 years ago, old man Parker, his wife Nancy and daughter Mary, changed all that by providing their home to these families for this purpose. The dead would be brought to their home and the mortician would care for the body until the family could get together to say their goodbyes and bury their loved one. They named it, "The Parker's Funeral Home."
This business turned into a very profitable endeavor and the dead from miles around passed through the Parker's home for many years until it was closed suddenly after the discovery of what had been going on behind the scenes.

WHAT ARE YOU SCARED OF?
CLICK ON THE CALENDAR FOR A LARGER VIEW OF OUR UPCOMING 2019 SHOW DATES.
We had been put in a situation at the last minute, before this season opened, to not be able to use any of our buildings due to Denton County requiring a $350,000 fire sprinkler system to be installed. Even after we built the building under their approval and have been operating them with new approvals for over 8 years. The VERY elaborate smoke detection and fire alarm systems we have is now not enough. This has made us have to recreate the entire show outside of the buildings this year. Our only other option was to close completely, like just about all the other haunted houses in the DFW area are having to do.
We only ask for you to judge the show on its own, and against the other haunted houses in our price range. Not against itself. All of the staff and lots of volunteers have put countless hours into a very fun experience. Our show has 35 fully decorated scenes with over 40 actors. It is shorter then it has been in the past, but It is packed full of detail and scares just about every inch of the way. From all the screams we are hearing, we know that many are having a great time. But it is hard to compete with ourselves. We have been noticing that all our new customers have been having a great time.
We would also like to address the pricing comments a few are having. We have not raised our price in over 4 years. Every other haunted house has gone up in price. We would have had gone up as well this year if It wasn’t for having to move the show outside, thus reducing the size. We do still feel that we are providing a very fun experience for the cost of a Chili’s dinner.
Halloween is a fun time for everyone, and everyone at The Parker House loves what they’re doing and put out 100% to give every victim that comes through our show a good time.
Happy Halloween everyone. We hope to scare you real soon....
